Looking to Buy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026

The short version

Browse without an account and we collect nothing at all. Make an account and we store your email, your profile, what you post, and your messages, because a marketplace cannot work otherwise. Listings and listing photos are public. Saved listings and message threads are private to you. No ads, no trackers, no analytics, no GPS, and we never sell your data. Email us and we delete all of it.

Introduction

Looking to Buy (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a local marketplace where you can list items for sale and post wanted ads with a budget so sellers come to you with offers. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our mobile app, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Because this is a marketplace, listings, profiles, and messages have to live on a server so other people can see them. This policy is specific about what that means.

Using the app without an account

You can browse the entire marketplace, search, filter, and open any listing without creating an account and without giving us any personal information. We do not require sign-up to look around, and we do not track guests.

An account is only needed for the parts tied to a person: posting a listing or wanted ad, saving listings, and messaging other users.

What we collect

When you create an account and use the app, we store:

  • Account information — your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plain-text password.
  • Profile information — the display name you choose, and optionally a general location you type in, a short bio, and a profile photo.
  • Listings you post — title, description, category, condition, price or budget range, the general location you enter, and any photos you attach.
  • Messages and offers — the content of conversations you have with other users, including structured offers (item, price, note, and any photo).
  • Saved listings — the listings you heart.

We do not collect your precise location or GPS data, your contacts, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or usage analytics. There are no third-party trackers, no advertising SDKs, and no cookies in the app.

Location

The app never asks for or uses your device’s location services. Any location shown on your profile or a listing is free text you typed yourself — a neighborhood or a city — and you choose how specific to be. We recommend keeping it general and arranging an exact meeting spot privately in chat.

Photos and your photo library

When you add photos to a listing or an offer, the app asks permission to access your photo library. Only the images you select are read; we never scan or upload your library.

Please note:photos attached to a listing are uploaded to public storage so they can be shown to anyone browsing, including people who are not signed in. Anyone with the image’s URL can view it. Do not include anything in a listing photo you would not want public — documents, screens, mail, license plates, or house numbers.

What other people can see

Public, visible to anyone using the app whether signed in or not: your listings, including photos, description, price or budget, and the location text you entered; and your public profile — display name, profile photo, general location, bio, rating, and review count.

Private, visible only to you: your saved listings, and your message threads, which are readable only by the two participants. Database access rules enforce this at the server, not just in the app.

Where your data is stored

We use Supabase to host our database, handle sign-in, and store uploaded photos. Your data is held on Supabase’s infrastructure and is subject to their security practices. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you.

As the operator of the service we have administrative access to the database. We access message content only when strictly necessary — to investigate a report of abuse, fraud, or a safety issue, or when required by law.

Third parties

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage.
  • The Apple App Store and Google Play handle distribution. We never receive your payment details.

Looking to Buy does not process payments between buyers and sellers. Money changes hands directly between the two people involved, outside the app, and we have no record of it.

Retention and deleting your account

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete any listing you have posted at any time.

To delete your account and everything attached to it, email parkerdevwork@gmail.comfrom the address on the account. We will delete your profile, listings, uploaded photos, saved listings, and messages within 30 days. Deletion is permanent. Note that a copy of a message you sent may remain visible in the other participant’s thread, and anyone who saved a listing photo before deletion keeps their own copy.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Row-level security rules on the database restrict every query to what the signed-in user is allowed to see, so favorites and message threads cannot be read by other users. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — please use a strong, unique password.

Children’s privacy

Looking to Buy is intended for adults (18 and over) because it involves arranging transactions and meeting people in person. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. You can edit your profile and listings in the app, and you can exercise any of these rights by emailing us. We respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make changes we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. We encourage you to review it periodically.
